The Swiss fruit and vegetable importer Giovanelli Fruchtimport AG is pleased to announce that it has purchased a stake in the agritech company AgroSustain. The investment is the result of an initial financing round by AgroSustain.
The company received an EIC Accelerator grant of EUR 2.4 million for the further development of its biological plant protection solutions. AgroSustain will use the proceeds to prepare the European market entry of its biological coating which extends the freshness of fruit and vegetables. It will also speed up its development of new, highly effective biological antifungal solutions.
‘We are pleased to welcome Giovanelli Fruchtimport AG as a strategic partner. ‘By using our experience in the sector, we will be in a position to integrate AgroSustain’s biological coating into the food supply chain and provide optimal plant protection,’ says Olga Dubey, CEO of AgroSustain.
‘The highly promising results of our joint product tests have convinced us that we have found the right partner in AgroSustain. Its bio-coating will further enhance product quality and make a key contribution to reducing food waste,’ says Raphael Weiss, CEO of Giovanelli Fruchtimport AG.
